New Clarity on the Focus of Astrology Journal

Hi Everyone,

I have two updates to share: a welcome clarity about the focus of Astrology Journal, and a change regarding the chat feature.

A Welcome Clarity

I received some much-desired clarity this month about the focus of this Substack. What came clear is that where Astrology Journal shines is in its posts on lunations, transits, and personal experiences, all of which I enjoy writing and talking about.

But I also have a geeky, technical side that clamors for attention, compelling me to write article series covering the different technical aspects of astrology. Yet, while I feel compelled to write them, hosting them here has never felt quite right.

Recently, I had the inspiration to change the name of my other astrology Substack from Project Astrology to Pass It On Astrology. This name change brought everything into focus: Pass It On Astrology is a perfect fit for the technical learning articles, so I’ll be posting those there; and Astrology Journal is a perfect fit for readings and personal stories, so I’ll be posting those here.

Despite the change, you'll still see technical elements here when I share lunation and transit readings, as going over the technical side is integral to my approach to readings. However, articles specifically dedicated to learning astrology's technical aspects will now live on Pass It On Astrology.

This change is hugely freeing. The inner conflict I've felt about mixing content types here has been resolved and this resolution is allowing me to better organize and commit to both endeavors.

• I'll be moving the existing technical articles to Pass It On Astrology over the next couple of weeks

Now, for the second update…

Chat Update

Ever since I turned on the paywall to Astrology Journal, I have been contemplating how I might incorporate special content for paid subscribers. A while back, I turned on the Chat and made it available to everyone. But it has never felt right.

Chat feels like it is meant to be a more intimate space. Yesterday, I realized that the solution to the misalignment is to make the chat a paid feature. Doing so aligns with the intimate nature of the space and allows me to post brief insights while also continuing to provide in-depth readings for everyone.

One thing I had been using the chat for was to let people know that I’d posted something new. The delivery rate for my posts is rarely 100% so I wanted to let people who might not have gotten an email know about new posts. Another option is to share my posts to Notes, something I’ve been inconsistent about. Posts I share should show up in the feeds of those of you who follow or subscribe to Astrology Journal, so that should be a viable alternative.

I plan to turn on the paywall to chat today and hope everyone is ok with it. I appreciate all of you for your interest and support and for your good hearts. I also want to extend a special appreciation to those of you who are and have been paid subscribers, supporting me as I’ve been finding my way here. It feels good to provide special offerings for you, however small they might be.
